Free Friday: NY Comic Con 2013 Costume

I know it is a little early for Comic Con, takes place in October, but who cares.  I am already thinking about what my costume will be.  Let me take a step back.  Last year, I attended with my husband, daughters, sister and nieces.  In the photo above, from left to right,

  1. My daughter Ayanna was Yuki Vampire Knight.
  2. My niece Hanna was Link from The Legend of Zelda.
  3. My daughter Zionne was Frankie Stein from Monster High Dolls.
  4. My niece Hailey was Princess Zelda.
  5. My niece Heaven was Princess Zelda.
  6. Below, I was a vampire.
  7. My husband, Gerald was Blade.
  8. My sister, Tamika, who refused to take a picture, was Link.

So now on to this year's costume.  I have lately become overly interested, insert obsessed, with Doctor Who.  I love watching the show since its reappearance in 2005.  However, because of school, family and work, I have not been able to watch each season in it's entirety.  I will endeavor, through streaming on Netflix, to watch every episode of the 9th, 10th and 11th Doctor.

Now, Doctor Who has had several companions throughout the years.  The most recent is Clara Oswin Oswald.  She is a wonderfully vibrant young woman who seems to keep reappearing throughout time, on the same timeline!  I am going to enjoy trying to figure out how this anomaly evolved.  Below is the costume that I endeavor to put together, perhaps something comparable, so that for this year's Comic Con- I am Oswin.  :D

  1. Start making that costume now!
Tell your husband the Blade costume is cool. Excellent choice.

  2. @Alex- my husband thanks you.

I've already begun searching for my costume from very reputable sites. :D

  3. Oh, I thought you were gonna MAKE the costume yourself. That'd be tricky, but doable. Good luck finding it at one of those reputable sites, and when you DO find it, you'll have to share a pic of yourself wearing it. (I'd think just wearing an outfit like that would make you stand more erect, if you know what I mean.)

  4. @ Susan- I was thinking of making myself, if and only if, I could not find anything comparable to the Victorian dress. I am not a seamstress and honestly have only done some stitching (more like taking up hems on pants legs). :D

Yes, I will definitely share a photo. I showed my daughters the photo of Clara Oswin and now they want Victorian dresses also. :)

Oh yes, I do know what you mean. *winks*
