A-Z April 2013 Challenge: Astronaut

This is part of the April 2013 A-Z Challenge.  Enjoy!

Every little girl and boy looks up at the night sky and sees a velvety blanket of diamonds.  They often wonder what is out there in that infinite ebony vacuum. At night, before bed, they sing about twinkling lights and cows over moons.  They wonder how far does that great beyond go?  They dream of floating through void and observing spinning celestial bodies.  Their curiosity looms behind those luminous eyes.  What marvels still lie in that great unknown?  Does the sun really burn?  Children question is there anyone out there?  They think, maybe we will go.  Maybe, we will see.

Drabble- n. story told in exactly 100 words.

  1. Really dreamy, I love it. My Dad's very into astronomy, so I became fascinated as a child. Many a summer night spent lying on our backs in the garden watching meteor storms. Happy days.

  2. Loved this drabble. The simple wording gives me a sense of nostalgia for childhood. :-)

  4. 100 words is really hard isn't it, but so much fun to do. Great drabble, you really packed the content in beautifully. When I was young I wanted to be an astronaut ... along with a vet and a doctor and an actress and ... well it was one of my dreams :).

  5. It makes me think of a possible future where astronauts are as mythical as Santa Claus. Great for storytelling, horrible for human exploration of space!

  6. I'm new to the Drabble concept (apparently living in a hole in the ground), but I love it! What a challenge.

  9. I hadn't heard of Drabble either but now that I have, I'm loving the idea of it. You did a great job with that 100 words.
